Canned tomatoes are peeled tomatoes that have been packed in a can with a liquid such as juice or puree. They are less expensive than fresh tomatoes and are accessible all year. Some people prefer canned tomatoes to fresh tomatoes, especially when fresh tomatoes are unavailable.
