Switzerland

You may now get paid to move to Switzerland, as if being at the top of our list of the best locations to move wasn’t incentive enough. An offer of more than £22,000 may attract someone under 45 who doesn’t mind living in a remote area of the world to relocate to Albinen, in the canton of Valais.
The Albinen council is giving adults a substantial financial incentive to relocate there in an effort to increase the town’s declining population.
Every adult who relocates to Albinen will get 25,000 Swiss Francs (US$28,000/£22,000), and an additional 10,000 Swiss Francs (US$11,000/£8,700) will be given for each child they bring. Accordingly, a family of four may be eligible for an inheritance of about US$70,000 or UK£61,000.
What’s the catch, then? To reside in a home valued at least 200,000 Swiss Francs (US$223,000), you will need to make a commitment to remain for at least ten years. You will be required to repay your entire incentive if you depart before the ten years have passed!
Moreover, the benefit is only available to Swiss citizens. This implies that you have to have married a Swiss national and finished your citizenship application before the end of the ten years, or you have to have resided in Switzerland for a total of 12 years (or 5 years if you have a type B visa).
However, don’t let it discourage you. With its fresh, Alpine air and the potential to enjoy one of the highest expat salaries in the world, maybe life in Albinen could be just what you and your family are looking for.
